Halloween - 2008

It's Halloween time and malls are filled with crazy items. It's really weired to see skeletons hanging from mall roofs and horror faced masks lined-up on the shelves. People will purchase these items and will be putting in front or back yard. Kids will wear some of the costumes and will hover here and there like crazy.

Actually this Halloween is coinciding with our Pitru Paksha, where we remember our ancestors. Similarly here too this occasion is to remember the ancestors!! Isn't it amazing the countries so diverse are following the same concept?

Find below the slideshow-video of some of the photographs taken at nearby malls!!

First step towards movie making

It was a relaxing weekend.

Saturday morning, we ladies (myself, Sapana, Sharayu & Sandya) had planned to go for shopping. However at last moment I decided to have some rest… as last 4-5 weeks my schedule was little tight and I hardly had time to rest. After a good nap in the afternoon, we spent that evening at Vipin’s place.

Saturday was very special day for Abhijit & group. They moved one step forward in their movie making. They discussed few topics & finally choose a feminine topic…………”Breast Cancer”!!! Now it’s time to get a sensible script or write a sensible story. We (all wives) are also planning to support them in all possible ways and participate in their efforts.

Readers, thanks for your responses/ mails which gives us encouragement to do better and keep our blog up to date. Your suggestions & tips are highly appreciated.

Sunday was lazy day for us. At the end of the day we watched “Welcome to Sajjanpur” directed by Shyam Benegal. It’s worth watching!! I will recommend you to watch this at least once.

Movie- Marathi Maanus.

Today... Sunday 21st Sep 2008. Vipin, Bipin and me (Abhijit) had a formal meeting for Movie making. (Many of you might be knowing my inclination towards Video Shooting and editing..... ) We have decided to make some movie. Some in the sense.... we are still looking for a good script. Movie might be about an Hour and half.

Vipin has inclination towards writing and we mainly rely on him for this critical job.

But, yes, something has triggered today..... let's see what these all Marathi men can do? We discussed topics like.... Finance, Story and risk involved in movie making. We have to think on technical and hardware aspects too. Let's see where this hobby will take us!!

We missed Vikas Jangam, who also is very interested and passionate about movie making. Well, we have just begun on the path.... will go together onwards!!

Anyone from the readers, if can help, some way or other, is welcomed!!

Tare Zamin Par is nominated for Oscar.... Valu and Tingya has taken a back seat..... still it is said to be success of Marathi man, since movie is written and directed by Amol Gupte. Click the Title "Movie- Marathi Maanus." to hear Mahesh Kothare.

Cleaning.

Winter is on doorstep and it was last week of Summer. Cold is on rise and we are putting on our heaters now. We are keeping our doors and windows more closed than open. It's a perfect time to get Air ducts and Carpet cleaned.

The ducts were cleaned on Friday and carpet on Saturday morning. Carpet was wet till evening and the furniture was moved to non-carpeted area of the house.... like in Kitchen, washrooms and passage ways.

Thanks to Sapana & Vipin for inviting us on Lunch. Sapana had prepared a Sindhi Kadhi as a special item other than Sindhi Style Potato, Lady Finger vegetable and Tondali. The sumptuous lunch was accompanied by Aam-ras!! Wow nice to have friends like them!!

Here are some snaps of the house cleaning......

Amul- The Taste Of India.

I was going through e-news paper today. Apart from bomb blasts in Delhi, I came across a news about the publication of Autobiography of Mr. Vargis Kurian, director of "Amul Industries" in India.

The autobiography is translated in 'Marathi'. The brief audio describing the same is linked above. The Audio is in Marathi language. Please click on the Title above "Amul- The Taste Of India." for link to the audio.

I always praised Amul for it's huge huge success in India. I have seen market waiting for Amul Butter to be supplied. The quality of Government run industry is really appreciable.

Just two days back I was talking to Adrian (remember...... one in 'Shirdi' posting below).... he mentioned that he asked someone to bring a box of 'Amul Chocolates' from India!!! Ammmmm???? I wondered at that point. And he mentioned further the Amul Chocolates are now not available at all shops now a days..... and he knew where those are available..... so he had special instructions from where to get those for his kids. Cadbury has engulfed the market but the quality and taste of Amul Chocolates is different indeed!!

Robbery.

In response to the posting, below, for 'NEWS'... refer below a mail from Asha Singh on her own experience, within same time period in Calgary.
Note that Asha was sitting very next to the person being robbed!!! Read on.....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi Abhijit and Shilpa,
It is nice to read your blog..it really is a very nice effort ....
read about the robbery at Parkhis.....
Well since this is related to robbery..I have a news too..as you know I am working with RBC Shawnessy.
The shawnessy branch of RBC was also robbed on Tuesday 2nd Sept..I was sitting next to the person robbed.. watching everything..the robber who had a loaded gun demanded $30,000.00 cash, was there for about 5-7 min..but was caught as soon as he walked out of the branch...as the manager handled the situation very tactfully we were able to call 911 on time..the police was waiting for him as he walked out of the branch...there was a chance that if he sees the police he could come back to the branch and goes on the shooting spree...but we were lucky he didn't see them...
This news was in Calgary Herald as well as in Calgary Sun along with his picture...well all the clients and employees were safe which is a priority in such types of incidents.
If you want to share this in your blog ..go ahead...
Good luck and be safe...
-Asha.

NEWS

"I have a NEWS" said Sonali Parkhi on phone.
"Congratulations" I replied promptly :-)
"No no... not that. We been robbed." -Sonali
"What???" -me

So that's how I came to know the Parkhi's laptop and digital camera had been robbed in full day light from his house. Parkhi family was away for an hour or so in the noon and that was the time the incidence has taken place. The burgler must have entered from the basement's window and picked up the items which were in open and easy to carry back from the window!!

Well.... Parkhi did not call to tell he was robbed but he wanted to alert all of us. We all think we are safe and nothing will happen to 'me'. But the fact is, you never know who is watching you and what you are going to loose. Especially when it comes to laptop.... we shall never leave confidential data with it's full details in the laptop/ computer. One shall have back-up of the important data in some format, saved somewhere. Serial numbers of the electronic items shall be kept in secure place so incase of such incidence the police shall be supplied with the relavent data.

You be in any area of the world.... be careful and be safe. Be prepared or the worst though we always hopes for the best.
